Number Twenty-two of Thirty day painting challenge, I stepped into the kitchen for inspiration. More specifically, the Gluten Free baker in my life inspired these two smaller paintings.  These are both three inch squares and invokes a cowgirl baking based theme. Fun little paintings for the kitchen.

So Day 15 actually included a second still life painting. It was a challenge of painting white on white – picking out all the various tones of color on the white objects. This was an interesting challenge to glean the many hues of reflecting colors from the milk, eggs and salt. This was my first attempt with such a painting challenge and provided lots of growth in my color detection skills. It was a great challenge to end a day of painting.

When it comes to still life paintings and pulling out amazing vibrant colors from the subject, Clare Carver is phenomenal. I had the pleasure of painting with her today and was that ever a gift for me. I brought in my Buddha and she brought over her tiny red box, a Japanese toothpick container, to create our still life subjects. We gave each other an opportunity to paint subject matters that we both found challenging. Talking art and painting resulted in a fun and expressive little red box & Buddha.
