A nostalgic mountain stares at the tree.
A tree peers into the distant mountain.
Above, the moon dances and shimmers.

This is a painting from last fall. I really like the simplicity of the composition. It spawned many other paintings for me, focusing on structure and how each entity interacts with another. It’s so nostalgic, a feeling of timelessness.

Mornings down the hill are beautiful on  a clear day. There is a magnificent lookout point that peers Mt. Hood from the distant horizon and the majestic colors from the rising sun. It’s gorgeous! That’s what #26 represents for me. I created it with my palette knife to abstract and texturize the moment.

San Francisco comes back for another painting. This time, I used my palette knife to create the beautiful vibrant sunrise. I love the texture the palette knife lends itself to with each stroke.  The textures and bright colors totally rocks the city by the bay.

Two Red Cranes at Play
Underneath the Red Lit Sky
Shine Brightly Tonight

UPDATE (2012-04-12): Renaming this painting to “Love Cranes Playing”. Thought it was more fitting and it’s a play on “love birds.” They really are having lots of fun!

The red cranes continue to inspire for painting number twenty-four. I had originally painted the backdrop with this wonderful dark blue textured background and it found home to this composition. I love the cranes and their expressions. Two good friends enjoying their time.

I was on a short break from painting. Recharging my batteries and needing to prep & cut more panels for future paintings. Closing in on the last week of painting and wanting to finish strong.

Number twenty one of the thirty day painting challenge keeps me on the Dundee Hills. There are lovely viewpoints on the hill, one of which is a view of Mt Hood on a clear beautiful day. This is where this day’s challenge comes into play. Tour guides lead the way as you follow along on your horse through the vineyards.

On number twenty of the thirty day painting challenge and upon request, it took me to the Dundee Hills vineyards. My partner, Sarah, has the fortune to work as a wine tour guide on horseback through Equestrian Wine Tours with owner and old-time cowboy, Jake Price. He’s a hoot! He’s such a character and you’ll enjoy the conversations with him as much as the  wine tasting on the hill.

This is a fabulous looking rooster.  A friend asked me to paint him. He’s got a mischievous look about him, yet so proud and so handsome. He’s got what looks like boots on, which are his feathers going down his legs and feet. His amazing blue-green feathers shine so bright.

Painting #18 keeps me in the city I love, San Francisco. This sunrise was taken from my last trip to San Francisco on our way back to Oregon. We left early in the morning and were treated to a great view of the sun greeting the city. I love the Golden Gate Bridge leading the way to the city. Barely any fog covering and giving my eyes a wonderful gift to experience. The brisk cold morning was tolerable after this sunny greeting.
